Located just 20 miles south of Chicago in DuPage County, Lombard is a popular suburb of approximately 43,395 residents. Lombard is bordered on the south side by Veterans Memorial Tollway and is only a 15-mile drive away from the O’Hare International Airport. Prior to being the robust community it is today, the village began as fertile farming land in the 1830s with help from the DuPage River.
One of Lombard’s biggest events every year which brings the whole community together is the annual Lilac Festival. Every May, since 1930, the 16-day festival is hosted by the town where locals and visitors can participate in the formal ball, Mother’s Day bunch, arts and crafts, concerts and wine and beer tastings in the park. To close out the whole celebration, everyone is encouraged to attend the Lilac Festival’s closing parade. For more exciting attractions, Lombard is home to the Victorian Cottage Museum, Sheldon Peck Homestead, Lilacia Park, Enchanted Castle and even Dr. William LeRoy House famously known as the Little Orphan Annie House. Lombard also has over 15 parks and even more facilities open for recreational use such as picnicking, sporting fields, walking and biking trails, playgrounds and pools.
The Chicago suburb has an exceptional school system and students have five high school options including, Glenbard East High School, Glenbard South High School, Glenbard West High School, Willowbrook High School and Addison Trail High School. There are also two private schools in the area which are Montini Catholic High School and CPSA (College Preparatory School of America).
